Chevrolet Maintains Leadership in Egypt’s Automotive Market in the First Eight Months of 2026

Chevrolet Optra is a key success contributor with 5,000 units sold
Chevrolet maintained its position as Egypt’s No. 1 automotive brand during the first eight months of 2026, registering more than 24,000 vehicles—nearly 6,000 more than during the same period last year.
The results underscore Chevrolet’s broad-based strength across the Egyptian market, including its long-standing leadership in the commercial-truck segment. For generations, Chevrolet commercial trucks have supported businesses, entrepreneurs, and families across Egypt with the capability, durability, and dependability required every day.
The Chevrolet Optra was also a key contributor to the brand’s performance. Introduced in Egypt last year, Optra became the country’s second-highest-registered vehicle through August, with more than 5,000 units registered in just eight months.
This strong result demonstrates Optra’s growing place in the hearts of Egyptian customers seeking a practical, dependable, and accessible car for their everyday journeys. Combining Chevrolet’s trusted heritage with the needs of today’s drivers, Optra is quickly becoming a preferred choice for daily commuting and family mobility.
During this year, GM Egypt expanded the Chevrolet portfolio to meet evolving customer needs, introducing the all-electric Captiva EV and Spark EUV, alongside the new S10 Max Crew Cab.
Commenting on the performance, Rohan Fernandes, Chairman and Managing Director of GM Egypt and Africa, said: “Chevrolet’s No. 1 position, and the strong customer response to the Optra, reflect the trust Egyptian customers place in our brands and the strength of the team behind them. We are building on GM Egypt’s manufacturing excellence, deep market understanding and strong partnerships to deliver vehicles that meet customers’ needs across a variety of price points and powertrains.”
“As we look ahead, we will build on this momentum by bringing more of GM’s global capabilities and technologies to Egypt, while continuing to invest in our people and manufacturing strength. With a new locally assembled passenger car on the way, we have a meaningful opportunity to give Egyptian customers even more choice and build an even stronger future for Chevrolet in Egypt.”
Medhat El-Shenawy, Marketing, Sales & Aftersales Director, added: “The Chevrolet Optra’s performance is a powerful endorsement of our customer-focused approach. The Optra strengthened our passenger-car offering while complementing our commercial vehicle leadership. We remain focused on delivering a portfolio that gives customers compelling choices today and supports the future of mobility in Egypt.”
Looking ahead, GM Egypt is focused on translating its market leadership into long-term impact by deepening its industrial footprint in Egypt, accelerating the shift toward next-generation mobility and positioning Chevrolet at the heart of the country’s automotive future.
